Considering it made us an empire, I'd say it was money pretty well spent.

No we should not go to another interventionist war that will kill Americans to save foreigners from other foreigners.

So we should permit the Chinese to conquer our hegemony and turn it into their empire. Then how are we supposed to prevent them from surpassing and dominating us?

Plus, we'd lose. Why do you think China is making all those extra male babies, just because they're gay?

Because their botched birth control legislation, (which you advocate here) had the unintended consequence of more male births. And even with their male population our army is the strongest in the world, our military spending outstrips the rest of the entire world including china and Russia.

Taiwan is the last vestige of pre communist china, they have been loyal allies, they are a democratic, capitalist republic, they share our values and desire nothing more than to continue the way they are.

China officially claims Taiwan as a part of china, and there is speculation that they may one day invade.

Should we Americans defend our ally even at the risk of war with nuclear china, and if we do not, and allow Chinese imperialism to continue, how will be able to prevent china from surpassing us and being able to coerce us into conforming to its wishes as the new global superpower?
